Africa's CCIs are not merely a source of cultural expression; they are a powerhouse of economic growth, innovation, and social cohesion. With over 70% of Africa's population under 30, the CCIs represent a critical pathway for youth employment, skills development, and entrepreneurship – directly aligning with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 (Aspiration 1: Prosperity; Aspiration 6: People-Driven Development). The AU Plan of Action on Cultural and Creative Industries (2022) explicitly calls for integrating CCIs into national/regional development strategies and fostering public-private partnerships. Furthermore, the AU’s focus on developing the Services Sector (via AfCFTA protocols) recognises CCIs as high-growth service exports vital for economic diversification.
